Honky midrange problems with higain guitars

hey guys, i think it's my untreated place, it's much easier with headphones. right now i'm trying out some amplitube cabinets :) @waav studios: i want it to be tighter, it's mostly sounds muddy to me. i like the sound of emmures speaker of the dead, acacia strain and architects naysayer.

Honky midrange problems with higain guitars

Ok, i'm gonna try a different tone knob position. It's a broad tonal issue; got no other guitar here for the record. Could also even be the IR, thanks for the messiah tip. The room is not treated and drums are ssd ;) When talking about my room; my reference mic tells me, that there's a drop...

Honky midrange problems with higain guitars

well, that's interesting. i got a tone in my head and it's not like that one; there's still stuff that bothers me. tube screamer settings are as following: gain - 0, tone - full treble, input - full. it could be the tone knob... i'm also not satisfied with the drum sound :D i think, it's not...

Honky midrange problems with higain guitars

i guess it's more a source problem here... and yeah, it's drop a#. drums are just a multiband comp and pre-eq, that's it. @waav studios: it just doesn't sound as i want it to sound, but i guess this is because it's a 700 € guitar. and yes, i do use a tube screamer. thanks man :) i'm not...

Honky midrange problems with higain guitars

Hey guys! Right now, i'm recording my first EP so far. It's a personal milestone for me and i want it to sound as good as possible. Unfortunately i've good some problems with my guitars, the midrange from 800 - 1200 hz is honking around and it even changes with different palm muting...

Am I using the wrong cabinet IRs?

Hahaha, i guess some noise added up and i didn't mute the master bus while exporting. But yeah, indeed. Holyfuckin noise batman :D I like the sound of the kemper, is there a ts in front of it? New DI: http://we.tl/ERuDraVOAw

Am I using the wrong cabinet IRs?

Nope, no post eq. Is there a sticky or a tutorial around about equing guitars? They always sound wrong to me, fizz here fizz there.

Am I using the wrong cabinet IRs?

Yeah, you're right. I choked the tone. What amp and cab did you use for the takes?

Am I using the wrong cabinet IRs?

@He's Dead, Jim: Ahhhh, that explains alot! I didn't know about the differences between IRs. So the sonic footprint of a tube power stage is part of some IRs! Thanks for that! :) @Mago: I tried that, but the level of resonant frequencies changes depending on what is being played. TS settings...

Am I using the wrong cabinet IRs?

Thanks for the answer mago :) Well, i guess it's the guitar and playing technique... if you can, have a listen to the clip.

Am I using the wrong cabinet IRs?

Hey guys, i'm working on different projects at the moment, but i just can't get the guitars right. Either they are too boomy or too harsh with nasty resonant frequencies in the 600 - 1200 hz area. No matter which way i eq it just sounds like crap. So i guess i'm using the wrong IRs here...

Snare gets buried by kick attack / Snare verb gets buried by everything??

Thanks again for the advise :) I tried it but my snare sounds a bit strange when i crush it (im using a fet comp, slow attack, fast release, ratio 2:1). Sounds like the snare wires are louder than everything. I do work completely itb. Is there a vca-type plugin compressor you can name?

Snare gets buried by kick attack / Snare verb gets buried by everything??

unfortunenately and fortunenately i'm using steven slate drums ;) i had no possibility to record real drums so far. right now, i can hear the highs from the reverb, but the low mids are caught up by the guitars of course. is there a special range for it? i guess, it's between 500 hz and 2000 hz...
