^what he said about the plugins. I run and older Intel 15" Macbook and don't have any issues. Only plugins I use are ezdrummer and a few free soft synth plugs. I use the built in ones for everthing else.

Get rid of them? Maybe it's just me but I think they give the whole thing a very 80's B sword and sorcerer movie sound. I don't think you will loose much by loosing them all together.
