It's very easy to tell the difference when the guitars are by themselves, but in the mix they sound pretty much identical.

Countryman is unnecessary. I run Blackouts into my Saffire pro 14 with no issues, and they are much higher output than your EMGs

64 bit AU support?

I just set the playhead one bar before the part starts then turn on a one bar count in. I get 2 bars of silence before I start playing but no start artifacts since it records before the start. Remember it's always easier to take stuff out than add it in.

A hardware 1176 at $600 and you're complaining about price? That's the best dang deal I've seen ever. It's only $200 more than the Waves plugin!

If you just need vocal compression, what I've heard from this plugin sounds awesome. I actually plan on picking it up eventually because it's so cheap. Keep in mind though that a FET compressor is very versatile and can be used on quite a few instruments well. In the long run it would benefit...

Along similar lines of the Saffire 6 USB, I use the Saffire Pro 14 which is essentially the firewire version and I love it.
