What are you reading? (The Book Club thread)

I forgot Nietzsche's Beyond Good and Evil, and Bill McKibben's Deep Economy, and All Quiet on the Western Front. I'm going to be busy for quite some time, haha.

What are you reading? (The Book Club thread)

I got a ton of books for Christmas, so I'm excited to get started on them. In addition to being in the middle of Lenin's State and Revolution, I'm reading Kesey's One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, which I'm really enjoying. I just got Cormac McCarthy's Border Trilogy, Maddox's Alphabet of...

I just got a copy of Lenin's "The State and Revolution", from 1934. I'm looking forward to reading it.

    Playing question for Chris

One of my friends uses a picking technique where he positions his hand just like he would with a pick, but he doesn't actually use one. So he's using the edge of his thumb/index finger to strike the strings. He can sweep and tremolo pick and do advanced stuff just as well as I can, but he didn't...

    Just Purchased?

Yeah, no kidding. Less than that, most likely. I'm ok with it though. I buy tons of cds at pawn shops, and I find all kinds of awesome stuff.

I will. I'm sort of starting the book with a bias against his theory, simply because I don't think that human nature and greed will allow growth to stop: the corporate entities that be won't go away simply because people start buying fruit at farmer's markets. We'll see how it goes though.

I just bought Rush's 2112 for like US$2 at a pawn shop. Pawn shops ftw.

What are you reading? (The Book Club thread)

I'll have to check it out. House of Leaves should be available at major bookstores, I believe. But, hell, I live in the States, and you live in Aus, so it might not be :P. I just started a book called The Deep Economy. Its by Bill McKibben, and its this guy's theory that if civilization...

What are you reading? (The Book Club thread)

You definitely should. Its amazing. It really made me think about the way people function individually, versus in large groups. Also, check out House of Leaves, by Mark Z. Danielewski, for a very interesting, albeit bizarre, read.

What are you reading? (The Book Club thread)

Read The Fountainhead. Quite possibly the best book I've ever read.

The unabridged version of The Three Musketeers. Its kickass. Anybody read House of Leaves? I loved that book.

    Latin Metal?

Thanks for the attempts, everybody. Someone recommended Impureza on another forum, but my problem with them is that they have Flamenco breaks, but the feel doesn't carry through the songs, it just goes to straight death metal. I'm looking for something that really grooves, haha.
