Hi Felix,
Two friends have a dubstep/hiphop project so maybe you will find some interesting idea... Or maybe not :D
https://www.facebook.com/basstalkers
As far as I love BAE stuff, I doubt the op could get one for 500$...
Anyway, for vocal I go with 1073, isa 110/215 or Amek CIB (can be found for kinda cheap, and the comp/eq work great on lead vox put as a finisher during mixing stage).
So go with a CIB;)
Get an original U87.
The U87 isn't the perfect mic for every voice, but this mic always work.
Kinda like a distressor on the compressor land, not the magical comp on some source but always work on everything.
VR was the Neve answer to the 4k, cleaner sound than a 4k; but still a certain amount of coloration. So a VR could fit on the interesting to have list imho.
You want the 9000J/XL sound?
Bypass VCC and mix straight to your daw and you will be close... And I'm serious.
VCC Neve is already modeled from a 8068 if I'm not wrong, so why do you want the same thing you already have?
Once again, you want the J/K saturation? Clip your daw until it...
Record Plant, NRG, The mix room (Burbank), Conway, Gleenwood place, Larabee, Ocean, Paramount if you are on the budget...etc
Many great studio here, but maybe can you give a more define list about what you want (console, mic...etc).
Avoid RAD!!! Worst customer service of the universe...
