Thanks I appreciate the comments.....I keep hearing people commenting about the autotune...and I swear there is not autotune happening. We do alot of takes and the main vocal has absolutely no tuning. I think its just the tone of Mariel's voice.

So When you are talking about using outboard are you using hardware inserts, printing hardware to tracks or mixing on a console? Curious because I have in the past gone the hardware insert route but didn't feel i was gaining much in the end. Now I stay in the box, and I don't use master...

I think Dave is being ultra humble when he keeps saying that he doesn't get compression, or any of that stuff, He gets it but maybe not in the way that he has complete and total dominion over all aspects......Also when the mix is expected to sell in the millions there are lots of extra people...

I admit that i mix things too hot.....it can really hurt getting loudness in the mastering phase. To fix this....I have resorted to tracking with faders at zero. I usually track on a console, but this applies in protools as well.....when I record my drums I make them sound good all faders at...

I prefer more of the "girl next door" kinda hotness on my DI's

I think he still triggers it off an AMS DMX at least thats what I was told. Might have something to do with what you are hearing....that and the massive amount of limiting/clipping used in mastering.
