Which record do you mean. James is one of the best riff guitar players in metal. I'll prefer Metallica over Megadeth.

Old Metallica slays everything Slayer done. Much more variety. I belive that slayer influenced the extreme metal scene more than Metallica did, but I belive that Metallica influenced a lot of great thrash (testament, annihilator) and heavy metal bands more than Slayer.
