Same, using it for practice. I'm running a Hardwire CM-2 overdrive into the crunch channel with knob pulled. Versatile setup, and sounds better than the Rockmaster alone.

I use the 73 and 81 for saturation and mid-side processing.

Select your reference mixes wisely, know them well, and refer to them often!

Did some tests and IK EQ73 is definitely closer to the UAD sound in that video than the Scheps. The way it handles mid-side processing seem to be a big part of that. I suspect the UAD (or maybe just that guy in the video) had mid-side effects active, while the Scheps in that video did not...

I hear the difference. It's big enough that it's not just picking technique or string gauge. Sounds like 80% wrong mic/cab selection, and 20% lack of clarity in the raw guitar (clean DI) signal. For the latter, if you're using passive pickups then try a shorter (like 5 foot) cable to see...
