in my opinion, a thin shell doesnt quite hold up to the other 2 releases. however, in its own right, i found it to be a fairly solid contribution to the genre as it stands right now.
well, theyve never had a "totally new sound" from one album to the next...even haven and projector had their similarities to prior material, and some residual vibes on later albums. but if fiction is any indication of the quality of what theyre going to do next...it could be an unplugged album...
the best NEW melodic death bands (who have a lot of thrash moments as well) are in my Opinion: The Absence from Florida and Sylosis from the UK. Both bands are fresh sounding and intense/precise and memorable. check them out.
chris, now that youre in megadeth and doing quite well i might add, already seen you live twice with them and you nail your leads practically effortlessly. i was just curious though...why stick with the 7 string at this point? for solo project or other band purposes? or you just gotten that...
im still soaking in the gloriousness that is fiction...and back to the studio they go. if only all great metal bands were this diligent and consistant.
when i bought something wild and hatebreeder back in late 1999. i listened to both records back to back for hours on end. but i remember downfall probably being the one i looked forward to the most.
