It sounded like you were using kick 10, i may be wrong :P i might have to try out a different compresser because ssl comp only has 1, 4 and 10 ratio, i think the api one has more options, i guess that 500hz cut is similar to when people say about cutting out 200?

I dont know, i might just be going over the top but when im using the slate samples (only ones i have atm) i feel like there isnt enough power behind my drums, i want a pounding clicky kick drum and a fat sounding snare

Is it me or does compression sound a lot more natural on individual drums (ie kick and snare) compared to adjusting the attack on a transient designer to get punch What does everyone else prefer to use to give their drums punch? Compression or transient designing, and if so why?

I turned the gain down on my slate drums in kontakt from 0db to -6, this seemed to solve the problem and anyway when i load my sturgis cymbals into kontakt he seems to have already set them at -6. it seems to give them headroom?

My individual tracks are also not clipping... so i dont know how this is happening
