Whiule it`s fun to spot differences in mic pre`s here and there, no one ever said in a mix contest that the wrong mic pre was used, or even which one was used. Can you tell in a mix? No one can. Use what you got. I personally go for low noise and features over supposed "vibe" and magic fairies...

I made half a song as a test to see if i could live with a guitar tone with just a single mic. Chain is as follows: VGS TD-Special with an emg85 in the bridge -> T-rex Møller as clean boost -> Bias modded 6505 -> Peavey frontloaded cab with British vintage 30s. One guitar track each side...

It`s a different sound. I like having both myself. Like having flavors of amps. If you use them, hvae them ;)

You want to go for the Pro series guitars and not the Select series, better hardware, pickups etc. If you go VGS guitars.
