Overstimulation and a constant bombardment with shifting images, symbols and and contextless information induce in people a disassociative state. In a world where social interaction is more likely to take place in the chat room than the living room, is it any wonder that a people slowly going insane turn to Christianity, liberalism, "black metal" or anything else that can grant them a sense of community without involving effort or the violation of taboos?
