embarrasing bands/artists you liked before getting into metal

I actually like some punk. I believe real punk died after about 1984. I like punk bands such as Misfits, Samhain, Dead Kennedys, Ramones, Sex Pistols, New York Dolls, GBH, Exploited, 45 Grave, The Cramps, Dead Boys, Crass, UK Subs, US Bombs, Subhumanz, Testors, Plasmatics, Black Flag, etc. This...

Do you as a metal listener look down upon other genres of music/their fans?

I have a friend who grew up listenting to green day, blink 182, third eye blind, bowling for soup, fall out boy, and any other emo/pop punk. Whenever I listen to 80s metal around him he just laughs at it and calls it mullet rock. He tells me the only thing else I need is a mullet and a camaro...

Do you as a metal listener look down upon other genres of music/their fans?

I agree with you. I am mostly into power metal myself, but I also get into other genres such as black and some death metal. When I first got into metal at about the age of 10 or 11, I listened to the radio. I was into hair metal and the more known bands like Kiss, Metallica, Iron Maiden, Judas...

Do you as a metal listener look down upon other genres of music/their fans?

I do have friends who listen to rap, pop, and all that crap, but don't hold it against them because they have nothing against my music. I only have about 2 friends who are into metal like I am. It's cool to hang out with friends who like the same music as me though. Metal is what brings myself...

    the hate thread

Power metal is the most over the top and most organized form of metal, as opposed to playing abunch of noise with cookie monster vocals. A friend of mine let me hear a cannibal corpse cd once, I couldn't tell one song from the next, the whole cd sounded like one long song.

Do themes such as Satanism or Anti-Christianity Affect Your Metal Preferences?

I'm glad to see that there are some people in touch with reality here. All the church is is a business. Their customers come on sundays and that's how they make money. They also get tax breaks because of this. Let's say I worship the sky or a tree from my house, shouldn't I get a tax break? That...

Do themes such as Satanism or Anti-Christianity Affect Your Metal Preferences?

That is not true. The reason for believing can be explained. It's something you grew up with because of your parents and/or people around you do it. Where nonbeleivers don't need an ancient list of rules to live by. They would rather just think for themselves. The only thing religion has done...

Do themes such as Satanism or Anti-Christianity Affect Your Metal Preferences?

There is some christian metal I can listen to simply for the music and I'd block out the lyrics. I like Sanctuary for example.
