Hey Emily (are you TechnicolorType on UG?)! I find that I hardly ever comp distorted guitars other than like the one guy said with a multi-band which works really well, and even then I don't do that often.

I use FL9 only for writing the drum parts, I use Reaper otherwise. I"m upgrading to Cubase soon though.

yeah, they're not a dry signal. the drums I wrote in FL9. so no real drums at all for triggers or anything

I've been writing songs for a long time, I just really want them to sound professional. this is barely a passable demo. yeah, I hate the hihat also. I haven't found a good hihat sample :( any good ideas? Too much comp on the snare I agree with, I will see what I can do! Thanks man!

Dude, sounds nice, I think you're guitar tone is just a little bit too bright. past that I love it. EDIT: I think the bass is clipping a bit also

Yeah, I feel ya. Try cutting some 4-5k (maybe even higher) and see where that gets you. Try using a little less gain also. when you're tracking more than 2 times your gain builds obviously. I'm not huge at drum tones but i'd say try boosting something like 500hz and see what happens.

I like it. I think your guitars a bit fizzy and the snare is a tad hollow, but the mix is otherwise very thick and full :)
