I hope this isn't spam, it isn't Opeth and it is music...

Geez, I thought you guys might shit on it, but that's pretty harsh indeed. However, in a sense I agree with you on some of it, because as a music listener it does seem to lack quite a bit. I just wanted some feedback from you guys. Tne thing I will say, we've been working on new stuff that is...

I hope this isn't spam, it isn't Opeth and it is music...

My band now has a myspace page! We have a small bio and three songs from our demo up on the site. Now, this isn't really metal and it is our first demo/recording effort EVER so I can't say I'm exactly happy with the sound. We're much better musicians now than we were even when we recorded this...

    Apparently.... Opeth is black metal.

Progressive Battlecore? LMAO, that's classic. It actually brings to mind Turisas, which I don't know if it's Progressive but it certainly is Battle-metal. As far as I know, Opeth doesn't write about battles. They write about ghosts and Homer and forests and drowning women and shit. And thanks...

    Apparently.... Opeth is black metal.

Sure, sub-genres are terrific for organizing. But it gets really, I dunno, academic when people bitch about, "well this band is metal-core so they suck". It's bullshitting, faggotry, and textual masturbation at its highest and most crass form. Opeth is a prime example. They are a band who is...

    Apparently.... Opeth is black metal.

There is Black Metal, Death Metal, Melo-Death, Symphonic Metal, Grind-Core, Metal-Core, and countless other sub-genres. Sometimes the difference between these genres is as simple as whether the singer is attempting to sound like Cookie Monster, or to sound like he's dying in a fire. Other times...

If there ever was any doubt...

That is simultaneously the most blasphemous and hilarious thing ever. As a Christian I don't know what to think about that, it's ridiculously offensive and yet curiously reverent. Almost as funny as the Oedipus essay written by the stoned college dude.

    Band Recommendations...

There are plenty of good Scandinavian bands out there, but for some good old fashioned old school Western-style rock and roll, check out the following two bands: Early Man The Sword You will not be disappointed. Pay special attention to "Freya" on The Sword's Age of Winters album.

    Rick Rubin = Good?

Rick Rubin is terrific. A lot of the albums I see on that list are some of my favorites. Rick Rubin could polish a turd and make it into gold. That being said, if Metallica is so insistent on sucking, there's not a whole lot Rubin can do about that. He can make the suckfest sound nicer, but...

In da house with Opeth pt.2

You know, if Mendez joined Metallica they might still be good.... Hehe, my favorite part of these movies is the Immortal pics in the backgrounds, especially in Hetfield's hideout. That may be the greatest publicity photo ever taken. Good job!

    Opeth and religion

How many times have we all seen this debate on the Interweb and in life, the old "You can't prove God therefore He doesn't exist" thing. It occurs to me that nobody who engages in this sort of debate has the faintest idea of who God is and how He operates. God is not the sort of Being to be a...

    new Lacuna Coil

I just got the new album today. So far, it does not strike me as an instant masterpiece like Comalies did. However, it has its moments of serious coolness. I'm going to give it a lot of spins and hopefully, it will grow on me like Unleashed Memories did. I'm a huge LC fan, and the new album...
