My late christmas gift to you guize: Full song ready to be mixed

Thought I'd give it a shot. I love that dry bass tone btw, it's got such a sandy work to it :)

    A quick bit, your opinion?

I took perhaps the most cliched, mundane riff - slaughtered it, and called it a "metal" riff and took to mixing it >_> http://soundcloud.com/redoubt9000/ideal-metal-mix-tone and another more lengthy mix http://soundcloud.com/redoubt9000/random-riff-and-mix-1 I've been trying to put...

Basic EQ'ing for Mastering : Need a few tips

Any EQ I ever do on a master channel usually consist of low Q (wide strokes) and small increments.

    Wet vs. Dry guitars.

    voila

    Wet vs. Dry guitars.

or in otherwords, adding a dash of common sense may clue you in on its usage... just to be frank I didn't necessarily say an applied EQ makes for a wet signal, but that technically (strictly in a DAW) the parameter still exists despite w/e fx you're using... High mids or using colour* as a...

    Wet vs. Dry guitars.

wet/dry is just a parameter of how much an effect affects the original (dry) signal. I haven't necessarily heard it being used in terms of an EQ (Unless the eq had a very specific behavior apart from conventional EQ's), but technically the parameter exists nonetheless for any assignable effect...

If you absolutely must record a bass with old strings [clips]

could water and vinegar work well ? worth a shot

    Reversing the track

I think he wants to retain the reverse effect on the drums as well with the exception of cymbals, no? Course you could follow the same logic by muting the cymbals, etc. Then bounce -> reverse.

    Reversing the track

? What are you dealing with? it should be easy enough, just reverse every other track other than the cymbals... or are you dealing with a compilation of instruments from only a single audio source...? Because if so, I've not a clue and doubt it's comparable to actually having the project files...

Am I on the right track with this mix?

I didn't really have the intention of asking someone to answer my noobish questions XP But I'd like to hear everyone's thought on this short mix. Usually I don't bother doing full covers, just snippets of a song for the sole purpose to pump along my mixing experience. :loco: I can't get quite...

    Ensiferum - The Longest Journey

Hey there all, first time poster :) And I'd like nothing more for starting out my introduction then to share a mix, so... Hope you all can lend a quick ear to this mix and your opinions on how you think it's coming along. Not entirely enthused with the leads or the lack of creamy in the...
