My mate is drumming for Hecate Enthroned

That song up there from the video would have fit nicely on Cradle of Filth's "Dusk and Her Embrace" album.

    Heavy Moving Blankets for Soundproofing?

Hmmm...lava rock wool. Interesting. If I was building a new room, I'd use that instead of typical insulation, but I can see where it would work by building a bass trap out of it. I'm only doing vocals, so I was originally hoping that with 12 of those heavy blankets, I could reduce sound...

    Burn My Eyes

Haha, that's cool. Vio-lence was kinda like that, but maybe multiplied by 2 or 3. Vio-lence's music was a lot more fast and lively, plus they had a singer up there with the 3 guitars; it was just mayhem. But Machine Head looked somewhat similar at the beginning of this video, before the song...

    Burn My Eyes

In a somewhat related topic, what are Machine Head like live? I was a HUGE Vio-lence fan when I was a teenager, and they were just incredible to see live. No lights, no smoke, no effects, just 5 lunatics who love metal going berzerk for an hour. "Eternal Nightmare" is still one of my favorite...

    Heavy Moving Blankets for Soundproofing?

So I might as well get much thinner and less expensive blankets? I think lesser blankets would kill the reflections; the only reason I'd get THESE is that they're so thick. But if they won't reduce the volume leaving my apartment and entering other apartments, no point. Thanks for the advice.

    Heavy Moving Blankets for Soundproofing?

Hey Everybody, Anybody have any experience using blankets like these http://www.movingstartup.com/moving-blankets-and-supplies/moving-blankets/Best-Cotton-Moving-Blankets-12-Pack for soundproofing? I only need them for vocals in an apartment. I want to deaden reflections, but I...

The Omega Experiment FREE EP!! (progressive metal, ambient, Townsend)

Well, for what it's worth, I really dug the crazy chromatic synth thing at the beginning. With the word "Townsend" in the thread title, then hearing the first song, I was thinking "Wait, did Devin Townsend actually do the vocals on this song?" You definitely nailed it. "Furor" has that Devin...

Guitar Tracking Question (Amp Sim Help)

Try a different cab loader, like LeCab or Kefir. They're free and I've never experienced any lag with either.

Ah yeah. Read it too fast.

    Please help me quad track

Does anyone else use chorus when quad-tracking? Seems to me you'd want to avoid chorus if you have 4 rhythm guitars.

    Cubase n00b question.

Otherwise, do a Youtube search for "Cubase Time Stretching."

    Cubase n00b question.

I'm assuming you recorded the audio before programming MIDI drums. If you program drums first and use them as your click track, everything lines up automatically. You could Time Stretch to get your Tempo exactly in sync with the audio files. Then lining up your MIDI drums notes with the...

    Ear Candling?

Wow, that must have been scary, hearing for the first time when you've already been around 5 or 6 years. Your parents must have been excited :)

Some Progressive (Death) Metal for you...

I hear ya about the bassdrum, and I'd understand if you wanted to lower the kicks a bit in the mix to put more emphasis somewhere else to make it a more cohesive overall Opethy sound. The Metalheads bassdrum is really clicky, and I don't think you can EQ much of that out, so that kick WILL be...
