I have been running COMPLETELY DI for two years. I want to get better at amp micing.

It's been fine, but recently, I've realized that this just, doesn't cut it really, compared to the tones I could get if I knew how to properly mic up an amp.. I guess I just don't know where to start in terms of heads and cabs. The 5150 seems to pretty much be the standard for metal guitars...

How do I get my masters to be as loud as commercial level music?

I can't seem to bring it up to the same DB level as everything else. I mean, a master I do can be great where it is, but you can't just go through life as an AE and not be able to master adequately enough. I'll throw up my mastering chain here, I master with plug ins. I really want to get this...

First mix in quite a while I'm just experimenting right now.

Mastered, but this is a preliminary mix/master. I changed up what I do this time. Usually I start mixing with the bass guitar at -5.0 dB and mix everything around that, but this time, I left the mix itself pretty loud, which mean I had to push the entire mix less when I took it to the master...

Does anyone have GuitarPro that I could ask a favor of?

Thanks a lot! I actually found an online player that lets you redownload files in any format, so it acts as a converter if need be. I appreciate it otherwise! http://www.webtabplayer.com/

Does anyone have GuitarPro that I could ask a favor of?

Hmm.. For some reason I can't open these gpx files with it. I have it on my computer, and I tried that as well.. I'll have to mess with it more.

Does anyone have GuitarPro that I could ask a favor of?

Edit: Solved, thanks everyone. I have three guitar pro files that a band programmed out a tempo map, and guitar riffs in. All I need is that exported to MIDI. I can't do it with the free version. Kind of annoyed they make it a big deal with the free version.

How to deal with amateur clients...

Well if that was your goal, being abrasive isn't the best way to handle it. The way you handle things makes people want to retaliate in a negative way. Good luck with your future productions.

    Yeah. Same opinion.

How to deal with amateur clients...

Exactly, I didn't provide info, meaning you had nothing to base that assumption off of. I'm not sure how you're getting any of this from me, to be honest. There's plenty of other people in this thread who agreed with me, and understood the frustration, I'm not the only one to be annoyed over...

How to deal with amateur clients...

Nowhere did I feel I needed to. I know these clients, I know their skill (or lack there of in this case) and I know what type of clients they are going to be for the rest of this project. It was in NO way solely because of them wanting to use their pedals. I go see my clients live if I have...

How to deal with amateur clients...

Just as an update, I'll post this in the original too, They ended up using the pedals one time, and I did show them comparisons of what I could do as opposed to what they could do, and they ditched the pedals. But ultimately I agree with you wholeheartedly, and I've recorded things that do...

How to deal with amateur clients...

Good I would rather not deal with the headache of someone so arrogant/ignorant. However, in a real world situation, as demonstrated by my behavior as of 8 hours ago, I would NEVER tell a client to fuck off with their cute little pedals. I simply suggested I show them both, and that settled...

How to deal with amateur clients...

If you were here previously you know what this was about. TLDR; Clients wanted to use their pedals, wouldn't listen to me, I was mad, /rant. UPDATE: 1. OP was right, and after one session they have come to terms and are now in full acceptance of everything I disagreed with in their methods...

Why would a band request to be there when mixing?

I suppose, in my opinion, this particular case is annoying to me because these guys have no clue about mixing or anything that goes into it. They're gonna be lost, and most likely questioning me the whole time, which Is why I am going to mix the whole damn thing and not tell them.

Why would a band request to be there when mixing?

Sorry everyone that I haven't been around the past few days. Didn't think I would get so many responses, but thank you to everyone, very much!!!!! :) For anyone else who may be visiting this thread soon: This is my situation as of now. This band doesn't know what they want, and I definitely...
