    Heavy Pop Punk?

i dont really see how genres are important at this point. the bands other songs defiantly have pop punk roots, while they are also on the heavy side for sure. and if you want to talk genres, the term screamo originated as an insult in the 90s and i still believe it to be one. that aside, thanks...

    Heavy Pop Punk?

this is not a genre i work on very often, although i was actually in this band before they came back to me to mix this song they recorded. mixed on my toft atb 32, outboard compressors and reverbs, about 90 percent of the mix was done analog. some touch ups and surgical eq done in the box...

Pop-Punk Master... Why do my vocals suck?

sounds like it has too much in the mid range. high shelf 12k to brighten them up and make them stick out, small bump at 120 to get the man in the voice and maybe a small cut in the mid rage somewhere to take out the mud is my normal vocal eq, dont want to take too much away from his voice or it...

    Mixing Clean WITH Distorted Guitar

needs eq for sure. the rhythm track sounds really washed out to me. maybe open up the panning for the rhythm track to 100% to open up the track and create a bit more space for the leads?

    the punk sound

when i do punk, i like to use single coils, but i try to go towards the lo-fi end of things when working with punk. also some big muff pedals work well, fuzz pedals do great things. and just about any devi ever pedal is gold with working with punk, grunge, noise, whatever. research some steve...

    Natural Tempo Variations

sweet thanks for all the help guys! i already have all of the songs tempo mapped, but i think ill just go through the songs and average out each sections of the song, and maybe ill leave small changes in tempos like for fills going into different parts or something like that.

Need some ears on a Drop A Mix!

    Mixing help. Neverending issue...

i think it sounds sick the way it is (a) maybe i slightly adjust the balance of instruments like lower the snare a bit at some parts. it sounds solid, i think the darkness of it sounds pretty good in this song. i think this with the songs i mix from time to time. just try to step away from it...

    Natural Tempo Variations

the tempo changes every measure, from anywhere between 1 beat to sometimes 4 or 6 at the most. i can post a clip later if it would be helpful. just have to get back to my house. im just wondering what would work better for this style of music. i started the band with the intent to track things...

    Natural Tempo Variations

I'm working with a band, they came in last week to do some scratch tracks and they had "found their tempos" but they did not account for tempo changes throughout the song, even though i had warned them about this. they drove up from a couple hours away and their drummer came as well. i didn't...

3 guitar panning help, and 8th note metrome?

when i have to deal with this i normally automate the panning of each guitar so they will switch to center as they come into a lead part. but sometimes depending on what's going on in the song, it may sound cool to have it off center. id say track everything as you normally would, then go...

    Fucking AWESOME hardcore

that song kills! really awesome. what's the band name?

    The importance of "bouncing"

i would see it important to bounce down tracks (especially) if your the recording engineer and not mixing the songs. when tracking the songs you create tones and sounds that you think need to be in the bands music and is best for the sound they want, and what you want. this may be more...
