Well considering Grindcore orginated from Napalm Death and such, i'd definitely say its a metal genre.

Arch Enemy is a amazing and Michael Amott is a great guitarist. Sorry their music doesn't contain "hooks"...thats what mallcore is for.

Half of those damn albums aren't even grindcore. I can't say which is the best grind album ever but the best grindcore album of this year is "Hewhocorrupts - 10 Steps to Success"
