If you take a look at the speakers you'll notice that the Mesa OEM and stock Celestion don't even look the same. The pole pieces are made from different alloys and the pole piece on the Celestion is cast while the Mesa is machined. The back and top plates are also different, as is the magnet...

Try it in both. Leave it in whatever one sounds better.

I'm with this guy. I used to have a Mesa Straight/Slant and could hear it fine. I traded it for an Orange (straight) and couldn't hear any of the detail. Found myself kneeling/bending over to get my ear lower so I could confirm how it sounded, and I had a tendency to dial in the amp way too...

I've owned both, but not at the same time. To me they sounded the same, but I never A/B'd them side by side.

Mesa sells them direct. Not sure how it works for Europeans but if you call them they should be able to hook you up with the right person.

Is there different versions of the HS80M? I found them new locally for $349. Is it a good idea to pick up a subwoofer so I can hear what's going on in the sub-lows? Or will that distort/exaggerate the bottom end in a negative way for mixing?
