    Glenn's Top 50 Albums of 2024

I can already tell this is going to take me a much longer time to get through the list this year. Seems like the last couple, I sort of cruised through, pass, pass, pass, pass, pass... Heads is just in a different place is all, and a lot just sounds the same these days. I started at the top...

GEOFF TATE "Operation: Mindcrime - The Final Chapter" US Tour 2025

Tate had trouble singing these songs when I saw him do a Mindcrime tour 15 years ago. Hard to imagine how bad it's got to suck now, but maybe he was just having an off night. Anyone seen him recently?

    David Gilmour fans ?

This was really out of nowhere for me: Featuring Gilmour basically soloing through the entire 6 minute song.

    NIGHTWISH: Yesterwynde

Agreed. She is wasted in the band unfortunately, but I imagine the paychecks are nice. I can't say I've heard anything really worthwhile from the band since Imaginaerum. So, 13 years of mediocrity.

Avatarium - Jefferson Airplane meets Black Sabbath

    Awesome. Love this band.

    DARK TRANQUILITY: Endtime Signals

Going to see them next month. I actually got an email notification that Amorphis was playing at this local club, and when I went to buy tickets saw that they were playing with Dark Tranquility.

Well, sucks for people, like me, who avoid Facebook. It definitely sucked the life out of this forum unfortunately.

    Top 50 Albums of 2021

It's taken me a while to get through this list. As always, there are a number of gems that flew completely under my radar. Acolyte for example, is a real genre blend, and would have missed it without seeing it here. I think I've listened to the whole album 20 times by now. Lord of the Lost...

    AYREON: Transitus

I'm okay with the "human" storylines, as they still tie into the universe. Human Equation is amazing, and The Theory Of Everything is one of my favorites. Up until this release, 01011001 was my least favorite of the bunch, but I can't even get through this one in one sitting. Like someone...

    AYREON: Transitus

Yeah, I couldn't get into it on first listen. In fact, I probably paused it a few times and went and did other things. It really wasn't holding my interest.

    YOUR TOP 25 ALBUMS

I absolutely do not list these in order. I modified the request slightly and limited myself to one album per band. I'd never come up with a list otherwise, as I'd have to pair down a couple of hundred. Right now, this is a pretty good approximation, but it's really based on mood. I might go...

    Good Savatage live DVD?

There are definitely a a lot more videos than I thought there were. I think I've seen 2 or 3 of that massive list.

    AYREON: Transitus

I got crazy excited about seeing Dee Snyder on this. Lots of great talent as usual.

    NIGHTWISH - WHERE TO START??????

Spot on. I think Nightwish could turn around. I actually enjoyed Imaginarium quite a bit, even with Annette singing. Still no idea why you'd get the strongest set of pipes in the genre, Floor, and lose her in the mix like that though. I haven't even thought about WT in a long time. I...

    NIGHTWISH - WHERE TO START??????

They got Floor, and she's been largely under utilized. Her vocals were downplayed in Endless Forms, and this last album is a waste of everyone's talent.
