Advice on tones and mix wanted! Thrash type stuff... POD HD 400...

For the guitars, I would suggest you to have a pair of tracks with moderate gain and more mids, and a pair of tracks with a scooped EQ and more than enough gain. Blend them together to taste. This way, you'll get a thicker sound without loosing too much clarity. Your snare sounds pretty good...

    feedback about this mix, please

I enjoyed listening to this. Overall the mix is pretty good. I would perhaps beef up the verse/single vocal a bit. It sounds very small compared to the multitracked/panned vocals in the chorus. Make it more "in your face" sounding.

The Definitive Rose of Sharyn DI + Backing

Edit: Screw the old version. Redid the guitars and here are the results: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/9231212/rose%20reamp5.mp3

Scar Symmetry - Slaves To The Subliminal (Stems Content)

Heres my go at it. Its my first time mixing after moving here, so it will be rough around the edges untill I relearn my room. Any feed back is of course very much appreciated. I am considering redoing the guitars. They sort of sound like ass. https://dl.dropbox.com/u/9231212/Slaves5.mp3

How Does This Metalcore Mix Sound?

The guitars sound like they arent panned to the sides at all. I would perhaps start there.

Please help my mix! I'm getting frustrated..

Kick and snare needs some work. As mentioned above, try different samples and perhaps blending a few together. Guitar takes up a lot of space, and I would perhaps try to trim the fat on it to make more room for the bass. I would bring vocals a tiny bit down so it doesnt overpower everything...

    please help.

What I usually do is to compress the living fvck out of the bass, then run it through TSE BOD to add some grind. Then I use EQ to add bite and take away excess rumble. Sometimes I add a second track and run it through a guitar amp simulator with most of the highs/lows cut. Basicly it sounds like...

    Guitar players who can't play

I would dare say, that the writing is worse than the execution. I got no response from that solo. Its just a series of notes to me. No emotion and lacks vibrato IMO.

Need comments on a production, all help appreciated !

Are they deaf? The kick is clear and punchy to my ears. Vocals sit pretty well with everything else and loudness would be at the cost of clarity most times. Did they give you a reference band/song? EDIT: Downloaded the clip and looked at the actual waveform. You could hammer it a bit more...

Sounds pretty good to me. What is the problem?

Already have raw tracks bounced for this!

Went back and rerecorded the guitars. This time I miced my cabinet rather than rely on impulses. Not quite as aggressive, but it sound like it has more weight to it. I like it a lot more. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/9231212/Apprehension%20miced1.mp3 And I would also like to know the same as the...

My first mix, please critique it!

Drums: They sound like superior, bone stock. Try different samples, tuning the drums differently and adding some reverb and compression to them outside of superior. Down the road you can try blending superior with other samples to make a new drum tone. The snare had some trouble cutting through...

Already have raw tracks bounced for this!

Did a quick mix of this. I went for a very aggressive mix. I think it turned out okay, though I may have overdone it on the limiter. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/9231212/Apprehension.mp3

Early rough mix and possible cash job for help mixing!

Hopefully I'm not too late. Heres my take on it. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/9231212/C1%20mast2.mp3 There are some blatant flaws that I left in due to rushing to complete this. (clipping toms for one) But this is just for example purposes. I've replaced the kick, snare and toms and fiddled around...
