Does Opeth represent for the new generations what Metallica did to the old-school's?

Metallica were on top of the metal world after just 3 or 4 albums. Opeth has been going for a lot longer than that. I think its mainly because Opeth are a prog band, and Metallica aren't (despite their early prog influences). Opeth seem to have more of a massive cult following, more like Tool...

I know. I have long hair too. I was just wondering though.

    peter lindgren

I wonder, since he's left Opeth and is now working a reasonably 'normal' job, would he have shaved his hair off?

Anyone besides me thinks that GR is the best Opeth album?

I've been a fan of Opeth for years and Ghost Reveries is my favourite album. I know its just my opinion but I was so impressed by the fact that the band's 8th album was their best. Still love listening to the album, and it still feels just as fresh as Watershed does, despite the fact that...

Another Lackluster Video...A Burden for Opeth to bear...

Opeth don't need crazy videos. Personally I wouldn't care if they never made any videos. They don't have many anyway. Their music is at least just as awesome without any visuals. It's so awesome that I can visualise the whole thing in my head. I think as far as Opeth videos go anyway, simple...

    Lopez's Best Works

Lopez' latin influences are what makes him so interesting to me. He brought something very different to the band, which only further expanded their sound. Axe has other influence, and while he is at least as skilled as Lopez, I don't think he stands out quite as much.

    Death Metal Singing

I tend to love most the songs with a bit of heavy and soft in them. Most Opeth songs are like that though. Juxtaposing heavy parts with softer parts just make the growling all the more brutal and meaningful.

How would You Introduce Opeth to a friend or parents?

Start them on Damnation. Then show them their other softer songs and slowly move it into songs with heavy and soft etc.

Ghost Reveries has some amazing rhythms. Love it!

    Epilouge, not just an outro

One of the saddest songs ever written. Especially within the context of the album.

It'll grow on you if you try to appreciate it.

Next Opeth observation: Jens or SW?

Opeth don't need SW to sound good. That said he's had a nice touch on the albums Opeth did with him. I agree with a lot of the positive things said about Bogren too. I guess since Ghost Reveries is my favourite Opeth album, I'd prefer they do most of the 'producing' themselves. There's...

How would Orchid & Morningrise sound these days?

I think all MAYH needs is a 5.1 mix. I quite like the sound of that album If they re-released that like they did with Still Life, I'd totally buy it.

    My Compliments to Per

Fuck yeah. It's as if he should have been in the band from day 1.

    An awesome/funny Opeth story

I've managed to get my GF into Opeth. She still isn't a huge fan of the growling, but likes the music. Also, my mum LOVES Opeth, she puts Lamentations on while she's doing house work at least once a week. My dad's quite into them too.
