No issue with the set. Some older songs would be nice too, but the band wants to play newer stuff, and I am cool with that too. I think Iconoclast is a very good cd, and I can't wait to see Romeo handling some of these solos live. My only desire would be to see DWOT as the closer the same way...

I would bet a healthy sum of money it is Romeo. How can I get this on my iPod? Romeo definitely needs to do Dark Chapter part II.

Unfortunately I think you are probably more on point here. During the WAIL video, there is a part where there is no singing with some great drum parts and guitar work going on and guess where the camera is...on Russell drinking water...what in the hell?! I think having a shitty video like that...

That Heretic video pisses me off. Once again, why the hell wasn't he zoomed in at the start of that solo? He stays locked on Allen like a pro and then solo time comes and he thinks we want to see a zoomed out view? Damn it.

My encore would be Set the World on Fire (or Eve of Seduction) then DWOT. Church of the Machine would be a good fit in this set too.

I would make one change to the setlist. Encore should be DWOT again. We had a good run with the Odyssey, but the other epic should return. Plus, I want to see what he does on the main solos toward the end of the song...those have always boggled my mind listening to the studio and live cd versions.

Setlist is great. Way too much crying on here about it. It is 2011, Iconoclast is a great cd and is the direction (along with PL) that the band is going so I guess if you don't want to hear that, stay home and listen to V. I wouldn't mind them playing DG, Dressed to Kill, or other older stuff...

I listened to Reign in Madness again because I didn't really notice the beginning the way others did on first listen. I think it is a great song, but the outcry by some over that opening is the perfect example of why Symphony X can't seem to win with some. People cry for growth, keyboards...

^ what he said. The solo in Heretic is just freaking unreal. That is probably my new favorite solo by MJR (or anyone else for that matter). I wish someone had captured that on video when they played it one or two times on this last tour.

I can see what Cog is saying. I am not a piano player, but Jordan Rudess, Kevin Codfert (Adagio), and Vitalij Kuprij (my personal favorite) are a few that seem to be a little more technically adept to me. I think Pinnella hangs with the likes of Johannson, Kevin Moore, and Derek Sherinian...
