That's for sure. Recreating a "natural" or otherwise "realistic" sound is not everyone's goal and can be an artistic choice, but even when recording an album that is willingly unrealistic in the way it sounds, instruments separation and detail intelligibility should always be sought after...

I agree. Bodom albums are a perfect example of how records should NOT, in fact, be made. They are among the worst sounding records I own :)

I never meant to imply you had said that, and I apologize for the misunderstanding. I only meant that as a confirmation of the fact that you can do quality recordings with digital equipment/mixing. I wasn't attacking you or anything :)

I'm surprised how much credit the vocals on HB are getting: I've always considered them the worst vocals on a Bodom album because they're so... weird and amateur... I don't know. Somehow, the vocals on FtR sound a lot more aggressive to me, and I like them better.

Most modern records have a digital master, which is kinda sad since analog is clearly superior in sound quality and beats the crap out of digital with its hands tied and blindfold any time of day (both in recording and in reproduction).
