    Bass for recording?

I don't play bass but need one for recording. I don't care how it looks, I don't care that it plays like a dream, I don't care about most things except that it sounds good. I guess the kind I'm looking for is a bass that's 'clean'. I've heard some bass players play and it's just plopplopPLOP...

    Reverb on guitars?

Do you usually send a bit of your guitar tracks to a reverb, and if so, how much? I can see it giving the guitars a bit more depth but depending on the genre it can vary I think. I'd like to hear what you guys do though because a lot of you are dual and quad tracking.

Anyone else have trouble with Revalver in Cubase?

I can get the window to come up, but when it comes time to change the settings on the GUI it's frozen. Haven't gotten this working, not sure what's up.

    Gating a snare in Cubase?

Cubase doesn't have a gated verb setting I believe. I'm also not going for a metal sound, I'm going for some industrial drums.

    Gating a snare in Cubase?

This should be simple to explain, but I can't wrap my head around it just yet. I've created an FX channel in the mixer and I'm using Roomworks SE with any given setting. I open the RoomworksSE FX channel settings and I insert the gate right after the reverb on the left side. In the Gate VST...

    Vocalist development?

Thanks for the fast reply. I'm talking mainly clean vocals but definitely, I'll try growls as well. I think if I practice I'll do ok, just don't want this to take 15 years before I'm decent.

    Vocalist development?

If you've got a band going with no vocalist, you may need to just do vocals yourself. That's what it's coming to for me. I wanted to ask the vocalists here what the process is like and how long these things take if you're musically experienced, but not with vocals. I'm talking mainly clean...

Live dvd that is just...edited to death

Cannibal Corpse's Live Cannibalism is 100% live I think. THAT is what a live band/show DVD should be like.

    About going to a studio...

There's a lot more to it than that, trust me. This is quite a big project that I'm trying to do on the smallest scale possible. Being in a studio with a good recording and mixing engineer is the best route for me to take. I have a friend that owns a big studio and he's an option, but I wanted to...

    About going to a studio...

Perfect answers. Have you guys got an idea of the price in USD? The ballpark. Let's say for about... 2 weeks or so, total time. I'm very flexible though so this two weeks could be off and on if necessary, more of a 'project'. Take in mind that I'll use solely drum samples, so no live drum...

    About going to a studio...

I'm completely out of the loop about this but hear me out. Let's say that I want to record some stuff that's the length of a 3 song demo or so, but I wanted it to be album/studio quality. If I went into a big, GOOD studio and had most of the DI tracks, midi files, all of that stuff already...

    Contacting Mike

Nah. I'm probably going to contact him on myspace or something. It's a very important, personal question for me.

    Contacting Mike

I just noticed that... I don't visit here often but now I know! Ok here goes. Mike, if you had to do it over again, would you hide yourself a bit more for privacy reasons? What I mean is bias in people and maybe taking on anonymity to counter that. People are treated very differently when...

    Contacting Mike

I've got an important question for Mike. I looked for an email address but didn't find one. How should I contact him?

Removing a grill from a cab

I took the grill off. Took quite a while because I had to unscrew about 15 screws to get the entire back off, then I had to unscrew 9 screws inside the cab, then screw back in the 15 screws on the back. Now I can get a much clearer picture of what's going on.
