AMPEG SCR-DI [FIRST-LOOK] AND WHERE TO GET IT CHEAP

It's pretty much exactly the same as the BA line of amps. If that sounds good in the mix, this will.

AMPEG SCR-DI [FIRST-LOOK] AND WHERE TO GET IT CHEAP

It seriously sounded SOOO good. I don't think anyone will be disappointed with it and I had to buy it at the $167 price. At $199, I wasn't too sure, so I had to jump in and get it before they raise the price to the street level.

Should You Upgrade to Pro Tools 12? What are the costs and consequences?

I had a chance to talk with an Avid rep at the NAMM show this past week about Pro tools 12, and some of the consequences of 12 being released is pretty rough. I wrote a little blog that makes it easy to figure out what is going on between the subscription plan and the annual plan. Check it out

AMPEG SCR-DI [FIRST-LOOK] AND WHERE TO GET IT CHEAP

The new Ampeg SCR-DI looks like it could be a great setup for recording or playing direct. I pre-ordered mine a couple days ago. The page had a link to buy it for $167 instead of the $199 it's listed for everywhere else. I'm looking forward to A/Bing it with the Sansamp. Check it out

AXE FX II Clip (FW 10)

Is this direct or from a cab? I'd like to hear it with chords that aren't just palm muted chugs. I still need to spend some time with mine to get it dialed in, but I've noticed a big difference already through my Mesa Recto cab, but I'm wondering how it sounds tracked.

    'official live sound thread'

I often use the clamps that come with the Shure Drum mic kit and find that they're pretty good for the most part.

AXE FX II > Firmware 10 released!

What amp did you use to make the patch? I'd like to hear someone try to match it up with a mesa and / or 5150 and compare it to stuff like this http://www.jasoncohenitservices.com/rose/ I'm stoked to update my Axe ii though. I'll do that now.

    'official live sound thread'

Use a DI and a mic on the cab. Just make sure the mic is right on the grill. There will be a little phase, but nothing big enough, especially if you roll off the high end on one and the low end on another. I do this all the time and it helps me to make the notes clear and get that awesome...

As I Lay Dying & CLA

I feel like the CLA mix is really muddy and lacking a lot of the forwardness of the guitars and vocals.

    sE SE2000 & Budget LDCs..

Save your money and get the 2200a ii! It's not that expensive for a mic if you think about it.

    sE SE2000 & Budget LDCs..

The sE2200a ii is an incredible mic. Constantly blown away by it and use it for many different things beyond just vocals. I've also used it on cello, upgright bass, overheads, room mics, electric and acoustic guitars, etc. You'd get a lot of options with that one mic and it's been used by Amy...

Death Metal - Axe FX II - LSD - SSD - One shot dead samples

Tone is too dry and your rhythm is way off from the drums...

Metallica´s The Unforgiven cover (AXE FX, Metal Foundry+Metal Machine, LTD K 500)

Yeah, the drums sound great dude. I feel like the vocals sit out too much in front of the mix, so having some more verb/delay will help it sit in better instead of feeling like it's really disconnected.

Which guitar cab mic should I get?

I know this might be the odd ball one out, but check out the sE electronics X1 condensor mic. I've used them a lot live and I've always gotten tons of reactions from people asking "WHAT MIC IS THAT?! IT SOUNDS SO GOOD!" Totally a surprise, that's for sure. You can get it for less than $200...
