5150 III having Feed Back Issue?

Google suggests that microphonic feedback issues are not uncommon with 81s; it surprises me, but if you're getting feedback with the strings damped then it sounds as thought that's what you have. Does it happen if you take the strings off?

5150 III having Feed Back Issue?

Unless you've got some sort of internal instability (sorry - your amp - not you!) it's fair to say (for practical purposes) that amps don't feed back - guitars feed back (OK, it's not really true, but it's close enough). How much gain are you using, what channels, speakers, how far away from...

    Tighter/cleaner low end

All the above and I'll often collapse the bottom end to mono - there are a number of freeware VSTs to do this or you can use a MS setting on an EQ and roll off all the low on the sides. Nugen Monofilter does the mono collapse in a slightly different way, it attempts to phase correlate the...

    NAD: Marshall JMP Superlead

Perhaps think about an attenuator, I use a THD Hot Plate but there may well be better boxes around these days. Might even get the volume up to 2 if you're lucky. And you can pull a pair of output tubes to reduce the output so long as you understand the implications on output impedance...

Client makes requests-no samples, gates etc... Do you use them!

If I do a mix and the client comes back and asks me to remove the compression from the vocal and remove the 20dB down snare sample blend then I'll happily do it. I added a slide guitar part to a song I MASTERED once and they didn't notice! :flame: On the other hand I've had a guitarist ask...

What level do you have your mix sit at before mastering?

PTHD used to run a 48 bit FP mixer so not too many worries there. For anyone who mixes and sends tracks to a Mastering Engineer - mix-down at full 32 or 48 bit and send the 2 track at that resolution; if you're mixing at anything less then stop doing it. Note that this is NOT the same as...

What level do you have your mix sit at before mastering?

32 bit FPA has been common in non-PT rigs for years. Bob Ludwig is undoubtedly one of the best and he has produced some masters and re-masters that are both very hot and very good sounding, but in the context of this thread the suggestion that all of the bits need to be used for maximim dynamic...

    FG-X Users

It can be a bit resource heavy for this if your DAW is at all stressed during mixing. You can still get a lot of the effects of maximising with a less specced limiter - it may not sound as good for rendering but if you're just after hearing the effects of the 2bus on your mix you should be OK...
