Commitment issues perhaps? WMMST - seeing the lack of activity on the forum in the run up to a long awaited new album. Where is everyone?

Long time, no login! Has everyone moved to a new home (Facebook, another forum perhaps?) or is this just a quiet spell? Anyway, I just wanted to say that I’m really looking forward to hearing the new stuff, if it’s still going ahead.

The 500+bhp version should be stunning. All the flair and excitement that the utilitarian German suit-mobiles are totally lacking.

Heard mixed reports about this one but I loved their last two albums. Will check out soon!

There's some good stuff here, but i don't see much lasting power. They desperately need to step up the musicianship, as five minutes of chugging without so much as an embellishment gets old very quickly. I know that Tony isn't a fan of Dream Theater and the like, so perhaps this is his way...

I'm not generally into the fantasy metal stuff, however, I just listened to "To the Stars" and enjoyed it very much. Good old power metal, the likes of which seems to be in rather short supply these days. Btw, I'm a 33 year old married father of one - probably not the target market either...

I'm gutted that I missed Dream Theater in London. Was planning on attending the Sheffield show, until I realised a few days ago that the tour dates on the website were formatted incorrectly (they were old dates from the 2014 tour). There is no Sheffield show this time.... :(

Symphony X smashed it in Sheffield last night. They were on top form.

Buy it, listen to it a couple of times until the themes start to appear and you'll be astonished how a band this late in their career can produce something so mesmerizing. I'm not saying it's perfect, but it's damn close.

The Astonishing is just magical. The only other DT album that comes close is Scenes. It blows the rest away, IMO.

It's a different kind of heat! I spent a week in Turkey and the temperatures hovered around 44 degrees. It was nowhere near as uncomfortable as it gets in the UK when our temperatures start to rise.
