Fabio Lione actually sounds great on the Youtube clips I've seen but I doubt he's joining the band full time. Khan's meltdown really had bad timing, it basically screwed over their entire touring cycle for the new album. Personally however I would have been very interested in seeing them with...
Very jealous of people who got to see the band on this tour. Hopefully they won't self-destruct again and we finally get the new album and more touring. LaTorre is definitely the man for CG.
From my purely selfish viewpoint he should've quit after the summer tour because I'm seeing Priest for the first time in June.:bah:
I have zero expectations for the new album after Nostradamus but I think it's pretty much written already?
In general I don't agree with people saying how a band's recent output can "tarnish their legacy"; if the old stuff somehow gets worse for you then apparently you're not listening to the music because that doesn't change (and to be clear this was not directed at Bryant or anyone else). It's the...
I wasn't very impressed by the stuff I heard a couple of years ago but the singer does an excellent job on the new Vicious Rumors album so maybe I should give them a second chance. They just sounded amateurish IIRC.
Good band, I have their previous album Nescience and I'd say it's a cross between King Diamond and the Chapter VI album by Candlemass. New album is definitely on the shopping list too.
Oh yes. The only thing that bugged me with Science of Annihilation was the production, if that's taken care of now I expect nothing short of a classic album.
Here's a trailer for the DVD:
I can't even find the SPV homepage actually but JP is prominently featured in their (ugh) Myspace at http://www.myspace.com/spvmusic. I've also seen ads in magazines and the new album is available for preorder everywhere so take it easy. :)
In no particular order (except maybe the first five are a notch above the rest):
Echoes - Nature/Existence
Rage - Strings To A Web
Jon Oliva's Pain - Festival
Star One - Victims Of The Modern Age
Armored Saint - La Raza
Iron Maiden - The Final Frontier
Grave Digger - The Clans Will Rise...
I saw a lot of bands in 2010 but I can't think of any truly amazing performances. These are some of the better ones:
Danzig @ Sauna Open Air (the biggest surprise of the year, Glenn sounded great!)
Grave Digger @ Sauna Open Air (a short festival show but the first time I saw them and they did...
Some new classic prog from Kurdt Vanderhoof and buddies and once again they're doing their best to not let anyone know about it. But it will be released in February and Ronny Munroe is the singer (I think this was discussed here at some point). Can't find any songs or even samples but if it's...
I just found out Blaspheme has released a new album last year. I had no idea they had even reunited but I guess they have and at least this song is pretty rockin':
Anyone heard the entire thing? Comments would be most welcome.
You should have pimped this on the Old School forum, I've been blissfully unaware of Cage at UM for over four months it seems. Haven't missed much apparently but let's hope things perk up a bit.
