Do you have a Mono Mode set on your master track? Sometimes it's as easy as this :)

For the guitars I used good old TSE X30, TSE Tubescreamer before that and a blend of my own impulses of an Engl 4x12 with V30's. Glad I could give you some external input :)

Of course this is always song dependent if it will work or not. I just checked a couple of my sub bass tracks and just found out that I set the HP/LP on the tuning of the song almost. If the guitar is dropped C for example my HP is close to C2 (60hz ish) and LP is a little above C3 (170hz-ish).

I think this is exactly what he was talking about. The Sum of all tracks is hitting the masterbus in the reds, so he uses a trim plugin or something to trim it back so it hits in the green, leaving headroom for processing, mastering etc......

Well, normally I would use compression but in this case, there are some blast parts which sounded better with volume automation. Everything else was pretty flat velocity wise. Try raising around 3k on the snare, and make space for it in the 200hz area. It helps in most of my cases.
