I feel like it's time to do one of these again. Post your bands.

Not in the band anymore, but I helped write and produced this album. Eddie from ASP did guest vox on this song.

Why does this kick sound so much better?

Oh I know all about phasing. I just wanted to know if anyone else thought it was dumb to get that sound by phase reversing rather than EQing.

Why does this kick sound so much better?

Yeah, I just wonder if phasing it out is the best way to go about getting that sound, or if EQ would be better?

Why does this kick sound so much better?

It seems to go against logic that when I phase out one of the kicks in this blended kick sample, the kick sounds way fatter and heavier. I'm combining Slate Kick 16, 10, and 15, and I'm reversing the phase on kick 15 to get the "better kick" sound... Does that seem strange to you guys too...

    Down with the clown?

Little too much low end overall, just a tiny bit muddy down there. Otherwise I think it's tits!

Possibly my best mix (reamped Axe FX II, live drums)

Haha, no problem. Drums: Slate Kick 16 Z1, EQ only to cut out a lot from the 200-900hz range and boost 5.3khz, 11khz, and 16khz. No compression or anything. Slate Snare 11a Z1 with a heavy dose of parallel compression and a bit of EQ to get the 200hz punch just right. Snare 12A Z4 for room...

    Guitar Instrumental - Recab 3.5

At 1:13, the guitars get really cluttered sounding. Hard to tell what's going on at that point.

Crit the fuck out of me/mud problem

Bass too loud, Guitars need more gain. Drums sound good. You should cut out the bassist sliding his finger over the strings at :58.

Possibly my best mix (reamped Axe FX II, live drums)

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1117317/BMA.mp3 I've been tweaking at this for too long now. Anything I could do better?

mix for cheesy rock band I am in. (kemper/some other stuff/blah blah blah)

The low end of the bass guitar seems a bit overpowering, but awesome otherwise!

If you were Alan Douches and you were going mastering this...

Backups seem fine where they are

    Dat snare tone

The room sound is a big part of that snare sound. It's tuned moderately low as well.
