I prefer owning a physical copy of cd rather than virtual copy. Price doesn't matter as long as the music is good :)

Very good and decent sound! Similar idea is to use 3 mics. One behind the speaker (open back amps), one for mids and the last mic for highs.

Also depends on the vocalist. If there is quiet parts (in metal???), I don't see the pop filter so necessary. I don't own sm7b, but usually I use pop filter when recording vocals.

True. Choosing mic that sounds the best for the particular vocalist is where I start. Then EQ and compression.

Are you using cab simulation vst's? Maybe try quad tracking with low pass filter? Or double track with less high and more mid and bass.
