Bulb/Periphery were the founders of "djent"?

Wow, I wasn't aware that TesseracT had been around that long (2003). Good to know. We're they rocking the style from the very beginning? I say so because while Periphery are not as old, Bulb really influenced people as "Bulb" through his soundclick account (via forums like sevenstring.org and...

Recording with the KORE 2 player???

Like other NI stuff, Kore 2 is killer but in the 'Player'/free iterations VERY limited. You should be able to MIDI program the sequences, automate the CC's, etc. and bounce down the tracks to wav via your arranger/DAW... Any other manipulation of its capabilities will likely require the full...

    Multitracking guitars

I generally mono out with the drums when tracking guitfiddle... bass generally goes on after if its a doubled part. When doing more than one layer a side, I get two L-R going that work well together (edit, if necessary), then mono out and two second, third, etc. passes based off the first take...

If you thought Rebecca Black's "Friday" was awful...

And the cycle of shit completes itself...

It's very hard to get clear/powerful low mids in metal !

I notch 'em out. Boost a touch right over the cutoff point, then take a tight Q and cut them out, TBH. Snare, especially, needs to punch through there, as well as a bit of second order bass harmonics.

WORST song in the history of the world?

Just posted this on the "funny" thread. Fucking Brokencyde for J.C. Superfans. Nothing. Is. Worse.

    ITT we post funny pictures...

That's nothing. :p Ready for it... Ready? Are you? Brokencyde... ...for... Jesus... Yup. Christcrunkcore. :hypno: It happened.

:err: Yves Carbonne is a great (and tasteful) player. Does tasty jazz/soul stuff with subcontra lows. It's not at all tech-wankery or whatever you're thinking.

    Dirk Verbeuren

Yeah, I've said this before about Dirk (and Gene Hoglan too, of course), he's so mechanically tight that he might as well be a programmed VSTi, for better or worse. It's not even that he sounds all that "gridded", but little things like his turnarounds from double to single kicks are so inhuman...

Anyone here with a good Bass simulator/synthesizer? Help needed...

Trillian is better than 95% of bass players if you program and processes it right.

I've always dug the shit out of this snare...

See, I liked (liked, not loved) Biohazard, but hardly thought they were all that groundbreaking... and then I grew up in NY, and my highschool band featured a college radio guy that was constantly bringing in all sorts of underground NYC hardcore stuff during the same time peroid. It was pretty...

SD 2.0 metal foundry presets, your favorite?

Yeah, I use the In Flames (Dead End) preset, and the Sneep Testament (Legacy) preset as starting points. Kicks + snares (plus some other stuff), as always, get heavy reinforcement through a parallel instance of Battery, and stuff is bussed out to my DAW and post processing done there.

This is my doing: :D I figured the CC-2 and Valnøtt were not enough. :loco:

    Devin Townsend Deconstrupdate 2

Yup. Septicflesh as well. This sort of thing is not new to them, I can see why it works so well.

I've always dug the shit out of this snare...

^ This. I find it REALLY ironic that a bunch of you guys spent a whole thread shitting all over Emmure, then you come up defending Biohazard as "the shit". :err: I'm 34 and came up on this stuff as much as the At The Gates and Carcass stuff from Europe and whatnot, and I just find it funny that...
