That's not quite been my experience, with all other specs equal a higher end guitar from the same manufacturer I have simply plays better and elicits a better lead performance with leads. Could be mental. Don't think it matters with rhythm stuff.

I'd agree a great guitarist, say like Jeff Loomis, is just gonna be able to do very well -- record, perform -- on any guitar that is set up well. However, for an exceptional performance one could make the case the quality bears on the setup/tone and that in turn will bring a better performance...

I custom ordered a Kiesel, was an lpm6 though. High quality, no complaints around that. Certainly wouldn't discourage a purchase. But maybe I was just too used to the ibanez necks and such. Returned it. Not sure I gave it a fair shake. Their k12 pickups are good.

You could write a ton about the topic for sure. There are still new ideas coming out still that keep the 'metal spirit' alive (IMO) and aren't sort of easy listening experiences. Revocation and Darkane are great example of interesting bands with unique riffs still packaged up in no-nonsense and...
