    Katatonia Forum Closing

I've come here for the last years and especially when I first joined this place I met a lot of great people, been in some great discussions and have shared a lot of cool stuff with you guys. Thanks to all the members I've met through this place and I regret the band decides to pull the plug on...

    Dead End Kings

Agreed!! Not saying they should write happy hardcore from now on, but in a way I feel they need to grow up. They do whatever they want and only they know their heart and if they are honest to themselves, but I've been thinking... These are grown men, with families (some have kids), with...

    Dead End Kings

Yeah it's all good. I just wanted to clarify ;) I experience it the other way around. I feel something's off and don't enjoy the song as I'd liked to and thén I try to put my finger on it. But I get what you're saying.

    Dead End Kings

I take it this is probably directed at me. Let me explain; When I first heard the song I got goosebumps because of the intensity and just general excitement of hearing a new Katatonia song, but as I was listening the feeling went away and I felt very little pull to hear it more often. I was...

    Dead End Kings

I haven't heard the song in its context and haven't heard it too often, so within that frame of interpretation; I'm afraid I don't like the song too much. It starts off fantastic! Great transition into the verse, but I'm not too happy with the chords + vocals. There's no real distinct chords...

New audio interview with Anders from Katatonia - April 2012

How important to Katatonia is the production side of the process of writing an album? I know Katatonia make demo's of the tracks before they go into the studio, but I'd like to know how much all the pro studio-gear and having a producer/sound engineer etc. around actually changes those demo's...

    Dead End Kings

I'm very sure the second cd/dvd will be a making of the album. Not too sure where I heard it, but there was an audio interview with Anders where he was talking about the little Facebook video's being teasers/promotional pieces letting people know there's a new album, but that they saved the real...

    Dead End Kings

The way you compare television to music doesn't make any sense at all. Bands make a full album, which is the entire season with every single episode included and all episodes end up on the final release. If anything, labels may encourage bands to write a new song or to gather some old left-overs...

    Dead End Kings

Surprise surprise... just about every band ever writes more songs than end up on an album. And I'm pretty sure Katatonia are respected enough to decide the final track list on an album. Just like NitND the album was complete without Ashen. Ashen was a track that didn't fit into the flow of the...

    New song by me

Thanks for all the remarks about that song guys. Much appreciated. I've got a new song, about which I'm quite a bit more happy than I was about 'Higher'. Where I kind of had to drag myself through the whole writing, recording and mixing process in the end this project went very smooth and...

    New song by me

Thanks for the feedback man. What you say about the harmonies in Higher, do you mean performance-wise or that I should rewrite them? Could you be a bit more specific about what parts and such, so I can find out what you mean

    New song by me

Cool! Thanks for listening. I'm glad to hear it doesn't sound like Katatonia. This song's chorus especially was inspired by Wait Outside (the live version). "Soft" verses vs. "hard" chorus is pretty much as far as that inspiration is obvious I guess

    New song by me

Hey everyone, I've been posting a few of my own musical creations in here, but I thought you, Katatonia likers, might appreciate this new song of mine. It's very much been inspired by the dynamic verse/chorus style we all know and love about Katatonia. I'm open for all feedback, please...
