    valve help

12ax7 and ecc83 are just different names for the same valve. I don't know about bugera, but 5150s supposedly work and sound best with 6L6GC.

    Time to Kill/Sansamp/Ibanez/inst rock

yay that's some cool vibe. i'm a bit curious - is it the sansamp alone (which one then) or have you tried applying impulses on it?

    80s metal sound

hi there, i would say an 808. Please check out a little track i recorded using a custom made "808 on crack" box and a MIJ Jackson: http://sites.google.com/site/heartqk/mp3/Heartquake_4.mp3?attredirects=0&d=1 other than that - you might need the right amp.

    Help with drum sound

the timing's off at first. i think that depending on the context of the other instruments - and what you are after - is whether the tone is a good choice or not.

    Grunge/dirt/alt (Recto+Marshall)

true. i can't hear a single rimshot in the song... wait no, there was one at around 60% length :heh: it's the way the drums are played oh and the outro sounds real thin with the slap bass.

Sickness - death/thrash/vegetarian rock song by total newbie :D - dropped B tunning

i like the crispness of the drums (superior drummer i guess?) actually i do not like the first part at all - well except some riff work. but the guitar tone: it reminds me of the screech of twisting a rubber balloon. it is really cold, lifeless, and pod-like. if i were to suggest anything...

[tone] impulses, fredman, which sounds better?

now i can hear the bass. but to be honest i preferred the rather modest top end of the first two clips (far far & mix 50). if you ask me i'd combine the "earlier treble with the latter bass". i think the earlier tones were a better match for the riff just a tad overly bass heavy ;)

    vinta9e: Macropsia

cheers. well my 'monitors' are very unreliable in the 400Hz region. and i guess one of the guitars might have just a bit too much of that 'bark' but i cannot track down the frequency, the Q and the gain correctly.
