Mastering a track to be streamed on Soundcloud and bandcamp.

I didn't listen to the link but going at it with a daft touch seems to work better than going full tilt. For streaming or anything destined to being distributed at 256 kbps (or less) lossy, it's best to leave a ceiling of -.8 to-1dBFS This helps prevent isps from getting out of hand when...

what khz and bit rate do you record at and why?

Honestly, It's a tough call because there's so many things higher up on the list of importance when it comes to production decisions. If your cpu has enough juice to run higher rate sessions without a hiccup, 88.2 is a nice way to go, but there's nothing standing in the way of great sounding...

what khz and bit rate do you record at and why?

I see roughly 40% come in at 24/44.1, 35% at 48K, 15% at 88.2, and about 10% at 96Khz. Hasn't really changed too much from that for me over the last decade or so.

Carpet Cloud Ceiling - Would it work?

I don't think it would make it worse if you hang them in an upside down C pattern. Drooping like this > U but spread more. On a low budget you got a do what you got a do, and the number one thing that you want to kill in a live room is flutter echo. If you clap your hands once and hear a high...

    Common vocal recording/mixing mistakes?

There's some cheaper stuff out there that show aliasing especially in the highs pretty bad. Against dark backgrounds or a dark track... Can you tuck the vocals back a bit and make sure the snare is still up?. No .. maybe

    Common vocal recording/mixing mistakes?

Sibilance is something that I see a lot. Common around 6-8K on male vocals. hate it. Easier to take care of in the mix.

Having a monthly or yearly account at one of the services like sendspace.com or wetransfer is a good move because you can manage everything easier and it will give you unlimited or a lot more space. Sendspace account for years here and usually have 20 to 40 gigs on there at a time.

Let us work the LOW END

1031's are alright. I've owned a pair and used to mix on them, ..but thought they were too polite sounding and traded them to a friend for Dynaudio BM15's which were a marked improvement and better for judging the bottom octave on the more aggressive stuff.. 1031's never cut it for me.. but it...
