    I use Pro Tools HD. I'm not familiar with Reaper. With my setup I'll usually not send an aux to an aux (buss to buss), but thanks for the layout suggestions. I use a VCA (kind of a master buss that controls all channels and auxes assigned to it) that my drums go to, but it is not a buss, per se.

    If you were punching in, then you'll need to do some really careful gain automation, but if they're just different tracks it won't matter. Are you needing the DI tracks for reamping or something? Your regular mic tracks should be the same volume, as they're not affected by the DI level. War

    Are you using Senny's or Sony's? I've found both of them to be really lean. I use ATHM50's these days, usually. In fact, even though my room's well treated, I still double check my bass on them to make sure I'm getting the right low info (using ADAM P33A's in the room, and they're no slouches)...
