What records do you think need a proper reissue? SOUND OFF!

It may be just my personal hate for digipacks but I would love to see the first Deathwish (UK) album reissued in a proper jewelcase with possible the tracks from the "Sword of Justice" demo tackled on. Divebomb would be perfect for this - you have done a great job with "Demon Preacher".

What records do you think need a proper reissue? SOUND OFF!

Lots of posts ago I mentioned some hardcore punk to be re-released on Divebomb. Would be awesome to see some of this stuff done and I think easier to deal with as far as bands/labels go. For example some stuff to consider: 1. Septic Death - Discography CD/2xCD - these guys are legends of grimy...

And Marquee Records re-released those Blood Money albums with bonuses. I wonder how those sound but they were supposedly remastered. Overall - it is great that they are available!

What records do you think need a proper reissue? SOUND OFF!

No idea. I have the original Brainstorm Division/Art of Music CD pressings but I will be getting those reissues. They include lots of bonus tracks if I read correctly. Plus they have been done with the approval and help of Greg May so I assume there is some kind of good source available. Will...

What records do you think need a proper reissue? SOUND OFF!

As you said before - all of this is matter of taste and preference. The older I am the more I go towards first pressings with all of their flaws, quirks etc. That is one of the things I love about them. Of course - in some cases remastering is needed because the original really sounds lousy -...

What records do you think need a proper reissue? SOUND OFF!

Matt: The remasters of the first four Megadeth albums were met with rather negative opinions. And indeed Dave remixed and remastered them - some track were found missing so he put in new vocal tracks etc. People felt cheated etc. Plus the remaster was found to be too hot and loud for most...

What records do you think need a proper reissue? SOUND OFF!

The problem with remastering is that often it goes too far if we are talking about loudness and compression. The efect is often that the dynamic range of the recording gets totally squashed. If everything it LOUD there is no dynamics there, no room. In case of metal this is not such a big...

What records do you think need a proper reissue? SOUND OFF!

I understand this totally Matt. I can also understand that some sources sound absolutely terrible and remastering is needed. Why do I ask about this? Mainly because some reissues FORCE people to seek out the older pressings because of their butchered sound. Look at the Judas Priest reissues -...

What records do you think need a proper reissue? SOUND OFF!

I actually wanted to ask about this Matt - why do you remaster your releases in the way that you do? I am not against them (and have plenty on my shelf) but they can get rather loud. As I recently turned towards first pressings and original releases and try to go with more dynamic-sounding...

What records do you think need a proper reissue? SOUND OFF!

I mentioned that sometime ago but I will repeat myself: Bloodlust "Guilty As Sin" with the "Terminal Velocity" EP as bonus tracks (and any demo/unreleased stuff one can find). On a proper sounding non-bootleg CD. This is one of these rare US metal wants that nobody even touched. I wonder why...

    Anthrax Box Set

I did. I liked it as far as loudness goes but there is definite loss of some of the dynamics on those CD's. I compared them to my old pressings and listened to them on some better hardware and you can hear that clearly. However for listening in the car etc. the new set is perfect.

    Anthrax Box Set

I wanted to get this set but I recently turned a new eye towards mastering and remastering. In short - I like the old stuff. It is, for a lack of a better word, crankable. Most of the old masterings of metal stuff are not that bad and sound pretty dynamic. If it is not loud enough - there is the...

    HOLOSADE

Does this open the door to other vinyl-sourced re-releases like the first Deathwish album or those Blood Money albums? And I am beyond happy this is getting a re-release. A very cool unsung power/thrash album.

Incidentally - are you doing Gothic Slam reissues Matt? Was something announced/in the works?

    HOLOSADE

AWESOME! I suggested that Holosade reissue and I am glad there talks about that. If you get a decent vinyl source - go with that as it is better than nothing. The NWOBHM-sounding demos would make for some awesome bonus tracks. As said the album is more in the US power/thrash vein but very...
