If, like me, the idea of visiting Oklahoma never entered your adult life, then reevaluate your thinking, as 2 Minutes To Tulsa is a fun weekend for metalheads, both fans and bands. It was so nice, I’ve now done it twice, on successive calendars.
This is not a “local show,” as people from all over the south & midwest (as well as the occasional coastal resident) congregate at the Vanguard, for two days of loud music, by bands also from far away. In 2025, that included acts from the UK, Canada, Spain, as well as all points: north, south, east & west, in the States. A collection of eight bands (each day), some established, others just beginning their journey, alongside one another, on the same stage.
Friday’s line-up saw Void open, then Tulsa’s own Blind Oath, another return to the lower 48 by Tower Hill (a long way from home), Sentry and the occult visuals of Savage Master, easily THE band of the day (performing on the release day for the new Dark & Dangerous album), Sacred Rite, NWOBHM legends Satan and headliner Liege Lord.
