2003 National Veterans Day Concert

Steph Harris

Maidens' Bass
If you're not doing anything tonight, the VA-National Medical Musical Group is having a concert in honor of our vets. The concert will be held at 7pm at Saddleback Church:1 Saddleback Pkwy, Lake Forest,CA. I'll be in the bass section. We'll be doing around 21 selections including excerpts from the 1812 Overture, medleys of songs from our armed forces (the Marines hymn, etc), and more. Tickets are still available. For tickets and other info, click on www.vetday.com.

There's something very wrong with OCTA when I have to work on Veterans Day and I'm a veteran and we get Columbus Day off and everybody is working.

This was a great concert! More Americans really need to see shows like these. It was being taped for a later broadcast, I didn't see Wanda in the orchestra though...? and what up with the 'Busey' no show?

There were 3 bass players and not really enough room on stage for all of us since it was already pretty jam-packed with performers. Since I was the littlest bass player, I ended up getting squished in the very back in front of the choir and behind the brass on the far right hand side - that was the only way we would all fit. There were large instruments and people standing in front of me (the other bass players, the harp, people speaking on podiums) so that's probably why you couldn't see me. I stuck around for a while after the show so I wish you would have come up to the stage after most of the performers had left - then you would have seen me :). I'm not sure why Busey wasn't there - I was kind of wondering about that too. At any rate, it was a cool concert and I got to play with a lot of neat people, many of them ( the brass section in particular) vets and active military. One of the bass players (Rodney) works at a military hospital in Illinois and flew in just for this event! Anyway, I'm glad you enjoyed the show ROTLD!
