2nd Michael Pinnella Solo Album??

No, but if it's true, thank you Jesus. These guys all have great solo projects, but Michael Pinnella's was my favorite. Here's hoping he gets a live drummer for this one.

Hope he'll not use those annoying synth tones, other than that EBTTG was really fantastic.

Sweet. December 15th release date. Best Symphony X related news in years.

After his lack of input on the past two records, it'll be interesting to finally hear where Pinnella really is these days, musically. We've heard from everyone else recently (except Rullo, I suppose) and know what they're about.

Gotta admit I'm all excited about this just like you guys. His first solo album was amazingly classical-influenced, and in general Sym X band members had released some great solo stuff. Even Russell's atomic soul is still being listened to in my playlist, and even The Dark Chapter, which is full of interesting guitar stuff on there.

Combine this upcoming solo album and the new upcoming Sym X album, both I predict are going to amaze me. Glad to hear new material is going to arrive, and that my favorite prog metal band isn't dead, at all.

Dont rush it, it has only been 3 years since Iconoclast.
Of course there is no rush for them. They took it slow. But it seems to be a good thing, because every Sym X album has came out to sound amazing. Imagine if Sym X released an album EVERY year? It'd probably make each album sound like shit because they wouldn't be spending enough time writing/recording it.

From my perspective, a reasonable gap between studio albums of metal bands these days would be 2 years. Any longer and the complaints starts unfolding

I know! And I dunno what happened, why did they start having longer gaps between albums.

I guess Romeo and also the other members had lots of material written for the first few albums so they just had to arrange the songs and record them. But lately they are touring and have to manage to write songs too.

Yeah, no big deal anyways, I've seen worse gaps in other bands to be honest. Take Metallica for example, 6-7 years since their last album and they still didn't bring anything new. All but empty promises over the years about how they're going to enter the studio but perhaps that's one of their tricks to increase anticipation. And well, they tour a LOT and make money out of it, so they aren't in a rush to release new material. Might not be too far of a situation from Sym X.

Where is the hype for this album? Come on, guys!

There's also an interview about the album on the same youtube channel.

"A lot of it I had from the last Symphony X record, you know stuff that didn't get used..."

Boy what a surprise...

That's a little bit out of context. I watched the video as well and he followed it up with the fact that you write a ton of stuff for album and there's always stuff, a minute here or there, that gets cut and can be turned into an entire song.

I do agree with your underlying point though that more Pinella would be most welcome :)

5 more days for this to drop. Can't wait!

Really great listen here. Definitely encourage everyone to buy or download. I feel like this album has a lot better flow and feeling to it than Twelfth Gate (which I also enjoy immensely). Mike really did a great job.
