I'm building a 2x12 to fit under my desk. Patterned on the GB Gflex 212 I've designed the walls at 1 1/4" using 2 sandwiched 5/8" ply. Using 3/4" would be easier, but 1 1/4" seems to match the Mesa and my Randall. Is that too thick? Most cabs are birch ply. Anyone tried others? Pine board instead of ply? I'm curious since it'd be more porous than ply if it'd dampen cabinet resonance better. Also since if I did solid wood I'd tung oil it instead of tolex covered. Oiling ply is pretty much useless. Anyway, here's a sketchup snap of it.
