hey

Ive got the most basic bedroom set up consiting of logic pro 7, sm58, beta57, sm57, 4 input mixer and a firewire interface and im going to record my bands demos because we need to advertise while we save to get the best recording we can.

Ill be playing a 6505 run through a marshall 2x12cab with vintage speakers, guitar used is a schecter avenger with active emg's

any advice on microphone placement to get the Parkway Drive (www.myspace.com/parkwaydrive) kind of guitar sound?

may double track with a pod if not any advice on microphone placement for the different tracks because the guitars will definatly be double tracked

drums are recorded and triggered up sounding sweet, bass will be recorded with sansamp connected direct to interface

any helpfull advice you can give me is great, and not go buy this this this as im aware i need to upgrade!

thanks guys

ill post demos of the tracks up here when finished
this is the first full band demo i will be recording :s

the parkway drive guitar sound is a pretty standard sound

this thread will help you a lot

basically, the mic slightly off axis, to pic up the sound well but missing out a lot of the high annoying hiss/fizz frequencies

this wont work for everyone, but you need to basically find your 'sweet spot' where it will sound killer with minimal processing

cheers guys that helped alot
i got told by someone that mic'ing up at the side got a good tone but it sounded quite flat to me, ill have a read of the other thread and give it a go, thanks alot for your help.

ill post up some mp3 clips when its done
