Hey, if NAD can review a Phil Collins show here...while the greyhairs in Yes has similarly mellowed out in recent years, their live shows are still tremendously entertaining and remind fans of how they defined progressive rock. Seeing them last night was a great experience. Aside from the cheesy Roger Dean balloons and peace banners on the stage, some bad synth patches from Wakeman, and a few of their duds, Yes played to perfection, Howe and Squire were close to their mid-70s peak. Highlights included Close To The Edge, America, a great acoustic version of Long Distance Runaround, a beautiful version of Awaken (I felt like I was stoned during the middle section), and best of all a godlike Starship Trooper to close things out.
Oh yeah, some poofs called Dream Theater opened. They were alright, and they did do Learning To Live and Trial Of Tears, so I can't complain. Also featured were Stream Of Consciousness (my favorite from TOT) and a few minutes of Machine Messiah, a song tailor made for DT, to delight the Yes fans.
