"Requiem" (1994) by Bathory is not AT ALL a bad album. It disappointed people when it came because people expected "Twilight of the Gods" pt. 2 and got "Reign in Blood" a la Quorthon. It's fast 2/4 thrash metal terror and I like it a lot. Nowhere near the majesty of the previous album but nowhere near the disaster some make it out to be. Overlooked-as-fvkk. That is all.

That's a pentagon :D and what's on the cover of octagon isn't really an octagon. I actually own that album abd I've listened to it maybe twice. I'll give it a few shots this weekend and let you know what I think.

Someday...I may get those albums. Them and Nordland II are the only Bathory I lack. Ought to rectify that someday, just for the sake of being completist...

Hey.

I didn't get into Bathory until right after Quorthon died, but I have since dedicated a lot of time to study his Ways. I love all the albums I have, with Nordland II being a particular favoUrite (I never say the final album by anyone is the best but... damn).

So anyhow, I am only missing Requiem, Octagon, and Destroyer of Worlds. Should I pick those up? Or should I just snag the solo Quorthon albums first and then maybe those other 3 for cheap if/when I stumble upon them by chance/circumstance?

Thx.

DoW has 4 good tunes, some decent ones, and some crap. It's kinda all over the place. Dont know much about Octagon or Requiem.

The Quorthon solo stuff honestly isnt bad. The 2CD release (forget the name) in particular has some good tunes. Just expect some grungy rock n roll type stuff.

DoW has 4 good tunes
lake of fire, ode, destroyer of worlds, day of wrath

it's funny how EVERYONE agrees about this

that album was an attempt to please everyone by doing all the bathory styles at once and as usual when you wanna please everyone, you end up pleasing no one particularly
