“This week, we dive into the untold story of KIX—a Maryland glam metal band that went from cult club kings to MTV sensations… and then vanished almost as quickly. Fronted by the charismatic Steve Whiteman, KIX rode the wave of the late ’80s hair metal boom with the surprise hit ‘Don’t Close Your Eyes’. Fueled by Aqua Net, swagger, and dangerous hooks, their breakout album, Blow My Fuse, went platinum and put them on stadium stages with the likes of Ratt and Whitesnake. But behind the scenes, their story was anything but glamorous. From years of being ignored by labels, to record company sabotage, to their sudden collapse just as they reached the top—this is the real, raw story of a band that should have ruled the Sunset Strip… even though they weren’t from it.”
KIX played their last show ever at Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, MD on September 17th, 2023 Fan-filmed video can be viewed below.
