Later this year the awesome Vendlus Records will release a pretty unique joint venture of artists who each pledged to write a song specifically inspired by this invaluable painting that is Arnold Böcklin's Toteninsel (Isle of the Dead), painted in 1883, that most of you have probably seen already:
(side trivia: according to most interpretations - but not to Böcklin h9imself who produced no conclusive explanation - the picture represents Charon leading the souls of the dead across the Acheron toowards their last respite)
So the list of bands participating in the project is leaving me dizzy, and I'm dying (no pun intended) to hear what they have come up with and work up the connections with the visual stimulus. Here they are in alphabetical order - I highlighted the ones I'm most interested in.
